It is difficult to find the words to describe the many strong emotions that sometimes took my breath away.

If it is not important in life where you start, or where you arrive, but the journey you take, thank you Carla for being part of my path.

In the Desert we find who we are, our true origins, the essence of the human nature, that we should never lose, even when life becomes tough. Carrying in our hearts the immense space, the silence and the voice of the spectacular desert that for those who have gotten to know it, will provide a great comfort. The winding roads sooner or later meet…..

I had only seen a small part of desert in Tunisia that was exactly like the scenery you see on many postcards. For someone like me, who is used to calling black, black and white, white, it was wonderful and surprising to become emotional upon seeing this place and to be able to also listen to what the silence of the desert was able to tell me. At the beginning it is fascinating and intriguing, unknown, a mysterious place, then you realize that what you see with your eyes is only the peak of an iceberg, and that in the Desert there is something that takes you “beyond”. I had never seen the Desert before. It was beautiful.

I saw that the wind, that in our world creates havoc, damage and disorder, here creates order, marvellous forms and a profound sense of quiet, in things and in the soul. This fills me with confidence and trust in life.

This leaves me also with a deep sense of gratitude for Carla, who with her sense of beauty and order, leaves us with the sensation of how that wind works also inside of us. To Max, who with his enthusiasm and generosity stayed close to us like a brother. And thank you to those who accompanied us, to Solah with his camels and Hassam, our wonderful chief. Close and spontaneous as it is difficult to see happen. Thank you.

It is difficult to explain what happens inside of a person during an experience like this. You live it intensely, everyday learning something new about yourself. You are able to exceed your limits and mental barriers that often block you, fears that you realize don’t exist.

It will be impossible for me to forget these days, and they have a place in my heart and my mind unlike anything else.

It is difficult to explain and to transmit what this journey left inside of me. I thank the Desert who allowed me to express myself unlike I have ever done before. For me it was not only an experience, but The Experience, that I am sure is the beginning of a journey to a better life than my past.

Here I am after returning from my first Desert. They were days of intense emotion. Every day the scenery around us changed and with it so did my senses and my thoughts. Thank you so much Carla for accompanying me with love on this peaceful and precious walk in the desert and also inside myself. The sunrises and sunsets seem in the White Desert will remain forever in my heart and in my mind. Thank you to my travel companions, to the staff who made my first experience in the desert unforgettable…. And thanks to Max who with his big heart brought life to every moment of our journey.
